THE KING OF THAILAND

Day 90: Due to its remote location in the Bavarian alps, the Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl had seemed the perfect location for the King and his ladies to escape the troubles back home whilst waiting for it to do the rounds. But the same troubles seemed intent on disrupting their heavenly set-up, with no food deliveries for weeks. The four women remaining looks very well fed thou, The King noted, but whatever happened to the other four?

The series charting the lockdown adventures of The King of Thailand and his 20 concubines became a returning feature of my Windows Book, in which I made daily drawings and observations throughout the first lockdown. I therefore saw it fitting to send them off to its new owner in a box made out of its gutted cover. Seems so long ago now - almost a time of pandemic innocence. I wonder what he might be doing now, and if he got a fresh batch in to cope with the pressures of his reign up there in the Bavarian hilltops. I enjoyed my time with these, and am so glad that they’ve finally landed safely in the hands of their new home.
