THE KING OF THAILAND

Day 31: Meanwhile, the fuck-fest continues at the Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl in Bavaria. The sharp-eyed will notice that we’re now down to 17 women, as three of them developed an unattractive, dry and persistent cough - so were sent back to their village. The King, not present in the line-up, is resting in the adjacent suite. Won’t be long thou – he’s a busy man after all…

The series charting the lockdown adventures of The King of Thailand and his 20 concubines became a returning feature of my Windows Book, in which I made daily drawings and observations throughout the first lockdown.  I therefore saw it fitting to send them off to its new owner in a box made out of its gutted cover. Seems so long ago now - pandemic innocence. I wonder what he might be doing now, and whether he demanded a fresh batch to cope with the pressures of his Bavarian hilltop reign.
